Welcome to the Siddha Yoga path!
The central teaching of Siddha Yoga is that the source of all peace, love and happiness lies within our own being. This source is called the inner Self. It is our very essence, our own divine nature.
This sacred power exists in everyone and in everything around us. When we live with this understanding, it transforms our lives. We find we can face every situation in life with equanimity, no matter what our external circumstances.
A Path of Grace
The power of Siddha Yoga meditation derives from the spiritual attainment of the Siddha Gurus.
A Siddha Guru is a meditation master who is fully established in the knowledge of the Self, and who can awaken others to the experience of their inner divinity. This ability is a rare and great attainment; it is called shaktipat diksha, the bestowal of grace.
Gurumayi Chidvilasananda is the spiritual head of the Siddha Yoga path. She is a Siddha Guru who walked the path of yoga under the guidance of her Guru, Swami Muktananda.
Gurumayi guides the continuing spiritual progress of seekers through her books and talks and through teachings posted on the Siddha Yoga path website.
The Role of Self-Effort
In order to sustain awareness of the awakened Self, Siddha Yoga students regularly devote time to meditation, chanting, study of the teachings and other spiritual practices, and apply what they learn in their daily lives. This process is known as sadhana.
The Role of Satsang
Satsang is a Sanskrit word that means to keep the company of the truth. It is a time when Siddha Yogis come together to chant, meditate and reflect on the Guru’s teachings.
Satsangs in the U.K.
During the pandemic, satsangs in Siddha Yoga Meditation Centres and Chanting and Meditation Groups have been suspended. Small groups of Siddha Yoga students continue to meet together via video or telephone conference calls to study and reflect on the Siddha Yoga teachings. These groups are known as Sadhana Circles. If you are interested in finding out more about these, please email email@example.com.
